Hi, I’m Amanda Hilburn!

I grew up right here in Clayton, North Carolina, and I’m a proud graduate of NC State University. My roots run deep in this community, and building connections has always been at the heart of what I do.

In 2024, I discovered American Mahjong, and it quickly became more than just a game to me. I fell in love with the way it brings people together — the laughter, the learning, the little victories around the table. It didn’t take long before I felt called to share that joy with others by teaching, hosting, and creating spaces for people to gather.

Through Mah Birdie Bam, I teach with patience, encouragement, and a focus on fun. My goal is to make every player — whether they’re holding tiles for the very first time or ready to sharpen their strategy — feel welcome and confident.

I’m also honored to be a Certified Oh My Mahjong Mentor, which allows me to continue learning from a brand I admire while supporting new and seasoned players in our community.

When I’m not teaching or hosting open play nights, you’ll usually find me enjoying family time, connecting with friends, or supporting our local Johnston County businesses.

Mahjong has given me a way to blend learning, laughter, and Southern hospitality — and I’d love to welcome you to the table.
