Curious about Mahjong but not sure where to start? Join Mah Birdie Bam for a fun and welcoming introduction to American Mahjong at Magnolia Inn.
This class is designed for true beginners and those who may have played once or twice but want to build a strong foundation. No experience is necessary—we'll guide you through the game step by step in a relaxed, supportive environment.
During this hands-on class, you'll learn:
• The different types of Mahjong tiles and their meanings
• The Charleston (tile-passing round) and how it works
• How to read and use the official NMJL card
• Basic gameplay, strategy, and etiquette
• Guided practice hands with instructor support
This class is perfect for:
• Complete beginners
• Players looking for a refresher
• Anyone interested in joining Open Play events but wanting to learn the basics first
All Mahjong materials will be provided. By the end of the evening, you'll leave with the knowledge, confidence, and excitement to continue your Mahjong journey—plus a welcoming community of players ready to help you learn and grow.
